MARATHI MULGI: SHRADDHA KAPOOR

The pretty actress is half-Maharashtrian and she loves to sport the Marathi mulgi look during the Ganesh puja festivities. The classic look is all about traditional undertones like blue, yellow and maroon nine-yard saris with vibrant borders. It’s perfect for an informal evening aarti at home where you can play the hostess. Ensure that the sari is vibrant and is draped neatly. Make sure you wear the Kolhapuri pearl-nath (nose ring) which is must-have jewelry during the festival.

#LookThePart: A typical nath is a special nose ornament worn by women during festivals and ceremonies.

PESHWAI NAUVARI DRAPE: PRIYANKA CHOPRA

It is also known as the Brahmini or Peshwai style of draping a traditional Nauvari sari. Worn typically during a dance set up, it has a long pallu and pocket like pleats that comes to the sides of the hip. Priyanka Chopra carried this style with ease in the film Bajirao Mastani in 2015 where she played Kashibai, the first wife of Baji Rao. With classic Chandni bindi, khopa (traditional bun) and dark eyebrows she looks resplendent in Kolhapuri Saaj (Maharashtrian mangalsutra), Thushi (choker) and bajubandh.

#LookThePart: Deck up in a gold-pearl bib necklace teamed with a traditional Nauvari sari for an evening aarti.

TRADITIONAL PAITHANI: MADHURI DIXIT

Remember Madhuri Dixit’s smoking hot Lavani number Humko Aajkal Hai Intezar (Sailaab)?  The actress with a million dollar smile can carry a traditional Maharashtrian look with elan and can make countless hearts skip a beat even today. There is something exceptional about la Dixit when she is dressed in a vibrant Nauvari or a Paithani, layered gold necklace, jhumkas and stack of bangles.

#LookThePart: For a regal evening look, a statement three-layered Rani-haar looks stunning teamed with a traditional Paithani sari.

DESI COOL: KRITI SANON

We simply love Kriti Sanon’s desi cool avatar. The actress surely knows to work her ethnic glam in a lehenga-choli complete with smoky eyes and traditional long danglers for her Bareilly Ki Barfi promotions. If you want a no-fuss day look, opt for Sanon style lehenga with a sexy off-shoulder choli for morning aarti.

#LookThePart: Since tradition is the buzzword, a simple pair of danglers matching your lehenga is a perfect day look.

blog_004Fashionable and feminine, a simple pair of dangler earrings can add a conventional punch to your prettiest lehenga.

GLAM DOLL: KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN

Dressing for the festival doesn’t mean going overboard. Even a simple salwar kurta is the best choice for occasion wear. Look for motifs and embellishments on the dupatta. Kareena Kapoor Khan recently turned heads when she looked every bit a diva in a sea-green salwar by Anamika Khanna with an embellished dupatta. The look was complete with diamond earrings and ring.

#LookThePart: A simple pair of long earrings is all you need to complement your ethnic salwar-kurta look.
